Police Swoop on Macedonia Drugs Barons

In a joint operation, Macedonian, German and Austrian police forces on Tuesday and Wednesday swooped on some 100 suspected drug smugglers and drug dealers in the three countries. Among the 29 arrested in Macedonia are six Macedonian nationals suspected as masterminds of the group. Three were named as Zoran Manaskov-Skrseniot, Spase Dimovski-Ajduk and Tome Dimovski-Tomce.

"Those arrested will be brought before judges to determine whether they will stay in detention," Macedonian police spokesperson Ivo Kotevski told Balkan Insight.
Macedonian police launched their operation in the central town of Veles and in the towns of Gevgelija, Sveti Nikole and the capital, Skopje.
Some 350 police took part in raids on the homes, restaurants and cafes of the suspects. The raids resulted in large hauls of money, drugs and other items, the police said.
